TBEC is owned by Navdata OY and Al Tayyar Energy. Since 2016 TBEC has been managed by Asia Biogas Group leading provider of biogas project development, design, construction and operation services in ASEAN.
Established by PEMF (a fund
supported by Finnfund) and ATE (a fund supported by
Prince Moulay Alaoui of Morocco) in 2003. TBEC is
today the leading biogas producer in the Mekong Region
with 8 power plants in Thailand and 1 plant in Lao
PDR. TBEC’s plants clean waste water from various
agri-factories, generating biogas in the process.
The biogas is partly supplied to the agri-factories
to meet their energy needs, replacing polluting coal/
diesel or HFO. The rest of the biogas is used to produce
electricity for supply to the local grid.
TBEC’s plants reduce local air
and water pollution, provide renewable energy &
electricity, and help in mitigating climate change
through methane capture. In addition, each project
safeguards rivers and lakes by ensuring no wastewater
spills occur from the host factories, and by doing
so protects the livelihood of all locals, such as
fishermen, that are dependent on those water resources.
TBEC projects produce c. 44 million nm3 of biogas
or 88 GWh equivalent of biogas annually, and reduce
greenhouse gas emissions by 320 000 tCO2e per year.
As Southeast Asia’s leading biogas
company, TBEC is committed to ISO 9001, ISO 14001,
OHSAS 18001 and IFC guidelines in its activities.
TBEC has been recognized
as a premium biogas company with awards such as ASEAN
Energy Award (2010, 2016), Thailand Energy Award (2010,
2014, 2014, 2016), Crown Standard (2009) and Gold Standard
